Why the Real World Will Matter More in 2014 - Harvard Business Review

Read this. Then consider TMAD along with Karreman and Associates (www.karreman.com) is helping an on-line retailer (one of the largest in its product/market category...not Amazon) design and launch its first "bricks and mortar" store.

TMAD is super excited to let you all in on the news that skoah www.skoah.com will open their second location in the Seattle area at 415 Pike in downtown Seattle (next to Washington Federal Bank...and around the corner from Julep Nail Parlor www.julep.com ...a Hutchison & Maul designed space). skoah Bellevue (Hutchison & Maul) has been open for over two months treating many a glowing East-side faces. skoah Broadway (North Capital Hill) is about to open their doors too.
The Pike store is a little jewel box sure to catch your attention when you walk by. Though small compared to Cap Hill (6 treatment rooms!), skoah Pike has two treatment rooms but will still showcase skoah's entire product line. Check 'em out!

Psycho Geographic

I learned a new phrase today but instantly it resonated as if I've known its meaning my whole life. While scouting new locations for a retail client, the property manager used the term "psycho-graphic" to explain invisible boundaries between market areas created by the relationship between psychology and geography. My bet is this resonates with all who call themselves Seattleites. Think about it. How many times have you heard "off the hill", "over the cut", and "down from the plateau"? Chris Scott (Owner, www.skoah.com ) picked up on this immediately remarking how "shire-like" Seattle is. We call them neighborhoods but shire picks up on a bit of that healthy brand attitude each hood has. Chris and I have talked about how wacky this is at times, but also how clear. Someone needs to write a paper.
